Mohamed Salah has signed a new long term contract with his Premier League side Liverpool

His new contract with the Reds will run out in the summer of 2023 – He scored 44 goals in 52 appearances for the Anfield side and won the Golden Boot for scoring the highest number of goals last in the EPL last season Egypt international Mohamed Salah has signed a new five year deal with his Premier League side Liverpool. The 26-year-old penned the new deal with the Reds following his superb debut season at Anfield last term. He scored 44 goals in just 52 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and won several awards to crown his efforts at the end of the season. Salah also set a new EPL goal record after scoring 32 goals in an English topflight season, and he won the Golden Boot in the process. The Egyptian also finished with the second highest total of strikes in a season in the Reds’ history, just three behind Ian Rush’s record of 47 and surpassing Roger Hunt’s haul of 42. His success in the 2017-18 season saw him win both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year. He became the first player in history to win three Premier League Player of the Month accolades in a season in March, while he claimed the Reds’ own Player of the Month prize an unprecedented seven times over the course of the campaign. However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reacted to the news of his star player committing his future to the club. He said that: “I think this news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season. “It demonstrates two things very clearly also – his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him. “We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions – we are working hard together to achieve this.” He continued: “When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think. “Equally, our commitment to him says we see his value and want him to grow even more and get even better within our environment. “The key thing to remember is the best thing about Mo is that he never sees himself as being more important than the team or anyone else within it. “He recorgnises his teammates and this club helped him achieve individual success last season. “He sees the individual awards come because he is part of something bigger that is special. “Mo reflects where we are as a team, I think. Last season was special with many special moments – but we want more. “We want to be more successful and achieve more together – as the supporters sang so loudly, ‘we’re never gonna stop’. This has to be the attitude individually and collectively.”]]>
